Day 1

Updated: Mar 3, 2021

If you asked me 3 weeks ago if I were excited about trying this fast, I would have said "no, but I'm curious."

That is a standing thought, not eating for 23 hours is not something I regularly want in my life, but here I sit at the end of day 1 and I'm not feeling bad. I can tell that my body is absorbing the nutrients from this massive meal that was my one and only intake for the day.

How did I fare today? I worked out first thing, drank about half of a gallon of water between the hours of 10 am and 4 pm. Along with that I've had 2 cups of tea, without any sweeteners. The diligence of tricking the body to feeling like it's had something without having anything is an interesting feat. With focus, I had no problems, or felt off or the impending hangry until around 5 PM. I found that I didn't feel light, like I would expect but my focus wasn't as impacted as I expected either.

My meal today, was even technically under what my macros call for. However, it was plenty of food. I sat at about 1800 cal, roughly 200 grams of protein, 60 grams of fat, and 100 grams of carbs.

The goal is to see how this affects my focus, drive, performance, and overall feelings. I'm typically one to function at lower levels when I'm hungry so, I'm curious how the rest of the week will go. Tune in tomorrow for day 2.
